Silver Christening Spoon - HW1937

Antique Solid Silver Art Deco Christening Spoon – Henry Wigfull, Sheffield 1937

There is something especially appealing about a Christening gift that already has a story of its own.

This antique solid silver Christening spoon was made in Sheffield in 1937 by the respected silversmith Henry Wigfull. Its clean, elegant Art Deco design gives it a wonderfully distinctive 1930s character — simple, stylish and very much of its period.

At 11 cm long and weighing 14 grams, it is a beautifully proportioned spoon, with the quality and feel you would expect from traditional British silver.

What makes a piece like this so special is that no two antique spoons are quite the same. This one has survived for nearly 90 years and has now been carefully restored to near new condition, ready to become part of another family story.
