A rare and important Arts & Crafts silver napkin ring by Alwyn Carr, hallmarked London, 1922.

Alwyn Carr is best remembered as the former partner of Omar Ramsden, with whom he formed the celebrated Ramsden & Carr partnership (1898–1919). This fine napkin ring reflects the same style and spirit of their joint work, with superb craftsmanship and hand-chased decoration.

The napkin ring is of capstan form, decorated with a chased lyre framed by a laurel wreath, and engraved with the initials “PJ” – almost certainly belonging to the original recipient.
