Vintage Solid Silver Oval Engine Turned Napkin Ring – Birmingham 1967 – Broadway & Co.

This elegant solid silver oval napkin ring has a lovely combination of classic 1960s design and traditional British craftsmanship. Made by the respected silversmiths Broadway & Co. and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1967, it is a particularly attractive example of vintage English silver.

The oval shape immediately gives this piece a slightly different character from the more usual round napkin ring, while the finely detailed engine turned decoration adds texture and catches the light beautifully. A polished cartouche has been deliberately left within the pattern, providing space for engraving up to three initials.

It is a design that has aged particularly well. Engine turning was used extensively on quality British silver because it added decoration without making a piece overly ornate, and this example still looks wonderfully smart nearly sixty years after it was made.

We have carefully restored this vintage silver napkin ring to near-new condition, retaining the original Birmingham hallmarks and crisp engine turned detail while bringing the sterling silver back to a beautiful finish.
