Vintage Solid Silver Napkin Ring – Feature Hallmarks – Birmingham 1979
A beautifully simple vintage solid silver napkin ring, made by Birmingham silversmiths WHG and fully hallmarked in Birmingham in 1979. With its clean round profile, prominent feature hallmarks and substantial 35-gram weight, this is a particularly good example of quality British silver.
There is something very appealing about a plain silver napkin ring. With no elaborate decoration to distract the eye, the quality of the silver, weight and craftsmanship become much more important. At 35 grams, this example feels reassuringly solid in the hand and is considerably more substantial than many modern napkin rings.
The feature Birmingham hallmarks form part of the character of the piece rather than being hidden away. They provide an immediate reminder that this is genuine British hallmarked sterling silver, with its origin and date permanently recorded in the silver.
Its broad, polished surface also provides excellent space for personalised engraving. A name, initials, date or short message can be added without overwhelming the design, making this an especially good choice for a christening, wedding, anniversary, birthday or retirement gift.
We have carefully restored this vintage silver napkin ring to near-new condition, retaining the original hallmarks while returning the sterling silver to a beautiful polished finish.

Simple, Substantial British Silver
For anyone looking for a solid silver napkin ring with real weight and quality, this Birmingham 1979 example is an excellent choice. The combination of its 35-gram weight, feature hallmarks and understated design gives it a timeless quality that works particularly well when personalised.
A genuine piece of British hallmarked silver that can be used every day, given for a special occasion and eventually passed on to another generation.
Made by the Birmingham silversmith recorded under the maker's mark W H G and fully hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office in 1979. Interestingly, this maker's mark is specifically recorded on silver napkin rings from 1979, although the full identity of the silversmith remains unconfirmed.
