Antique Solid Silver Art Deco Christening Spoon – Harrods, London 1932

A particularly charming antique solid silver Christening spoon, made for Harrods of London in 1932, with elegant Art Deco styling and very rare gold-gilded period hallmarks.

One of the most interesting details is the original RWB sponsor's mark, associated with Harrods and formed from the initials of Sir Richard Woodman Burbridge, the famous department store's chairman at the time. Together with the London assay and 1932 date marks, it gives this little spoon wonderful period character and provenance.

At just 9 cm long, it is beautifully proportioned as a baby or Christening gift. The unusual gilded hallmarks stand out beautifully against the polished sterling silver and make this a much more distinctive piece than an ordinary Christening spoon.
